Ok, I’m probably going to upset a few people with this post. If you are a super duper dog lover, stop reading now.
Today for lunch a co-worker and I tried out a new coffee shop/sandwich shop that is just a few blocks from the office. This place is a miniature Panera Bread. It looked like the perfect place to walk to and sit and have lunch to get away from the office.
The place hasn’t been discovered by too many yet and was very peaceful. My sandwich was really good and they were reasonably priced.
Now, this quaint little eating establishment is in the lower level of an apartment complex that is housed by mostly 20 somethings. These 20 somethings love their ‘fur babies.
While were sitting there enjoying our lunch and a nice conversation, in walks a young lady carrying her Pug. I’m thinking ‘Uh oh, they’re going to ask her to leave.’ Nope! The workers just ooed and awed at the dog…The dog was on her hip, kinda like a child. Her hip was counter high. The dog was touching the counter top. We sat there in shock.
When did it become ok for dogs to be in a restaurant (unless they are a service dog)? Did the food safety rules change?
This young girl gets her food and leaves. We’re speechless.
Then not even 5 minutes later, in walks another customer with his dog. I snapped a picture of this one.
This dog was jumping up to the counter and again the workers didn’t care…
Ok, am I just getting old and grumpy? I’m just 45. Where I come from, you don’t take your dogs into a restaurant. I swear this younger generation thinks their ‘fur babies’ have the same rights as people do.
I love animals, don’t get me wrong. However, they have a place and it’s not at my dinning room table or in an eating establishment.
Needless to say, we won’t be going back.
